Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Agenda Beacon is used by local governments, school boards, and companies to publish meeting agendas, minutes, votes, and policies. Much of that content is legally required to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

We design and test Agenda Beacon against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the standard named in the U.S. Department of Justice's web accessibility rule for state and local governments.

What We Do

Every public page — organization portals, agendas, minutes, policies, and search — is built on accessible component primitives with correct landmarks, headings, keyboard navigation, and visible focus indicators.

Color and contrast are managed through a central design system that meets WCAG AA contrast ratios, and information is never conveyed by color alone.

Interactive tools such as agenda drag-and-drop reordering include full keyboard alternatives, and forms announce errors to screen readers.

We run automated accessibility audits (axe-core) across the public and signed-in experience as part of ongoing development.

Your Documents

Documents your organization uploads — agendas, minutes, and attachments — must themselves be accessible. When you post a public file that appears to contain no readable text (for example, a scanned image-only PDF), Agenda Beacon warns you at upload time so it can be replaced with an accessible version.

Text-based PDFs posted to your public portal are also fully searchable, which benefits all visitors, including those using assistive technology.

Known Limitations

Accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a one-time certification. We recommend periodic manual testing with screen readers such as NVDA or VoiceOver, and we welcome reports of any barrier you encounter.

Content created by individual organizations — such as uploaded scanned documents — remains the responsibility of that organization, though Agenda Beacon flags likely issues automatically.
